Uncompromising Security, Flexible Recovery

The security of Zero-Knowledge, without the anxiety of being locked out.

A common fear with Zero-Knowledge (ZK) platforms is the "Total Loss" scenario: losing your device, forgetting your password, and losing your data forever. At Quasar, we've engineered a multi-layered security architecture that protects you against physical theft while offering flexible, mathematically sound recovery options.

1. The Emergency Kit (Cold Storage)

During onboarding, Quasar shows you your 12-word recovery phrase and asks you to record it as your "Emergency Kit". Together with your master password it derives your Master Encryption Key. Storing it somewhere safe keeps access to your data regardless of what happens to your hardware or online credentials. A printable PDF is planned.

2. Opt-In Key Escrow (Managed Recovery - planned)

For users who want ultimate peace of mind, we are building an Opt-In Key Escrow system. It is not available yet.

When it ships, opting in during setup will encrypt your Master Key with our Master Public Key (RSA-4096) and store it securely. In a true "Total Loss" scenario where your Emergency Kit is gone, we would be able to decrypt this key blob as a last resort.

Strict KYC Protocol: To protect your data, a recovery decryption will only be executed after you pass an industry-standard identity verification process (matching government-issued ID and verified corporate correspondence).

3. Strict Zero-Knowledge (current default)

Quasar is Strict Zero-Knowledge today: no key is escrowed. If you lose your Emergency Kit, your data is mathematically unrecoverable. We cannot help you, and your data remains perfectly sealed.
